Portrait #11 Tow Head Heart Breaker

Its probably no surprise we have another blonde child in this post, but this girl has the blondest hair ever: almost totally white! She is definitely going to be a heart breaker with the blue eyes too:




I went for a soft fuzzy background to go with the soft coloring of her skin and hair; you wouldn't know it from the looks of it, but this simple background takes twice as much time (or more) than does my usual method of cross-hatching. I think I adjusted the contrast a little too much in this scan, as you'll see if you compare the dress and flower to the next one. Oh well:




She has a cute, crooked smile, but I decided I needed to widen her bottom lip just a little bit here. I accidentally made a weird edge on the left side of her lip in the drawing, but I think I can fix it later because its a light color. I am trying to find ways to show detail in her hair without changing the color, but it is so pale any color looks too dark:



I got to spend some time putting skin tones into her arms, which takes longer than just doing a clothing pattern. This scan makes those colors darker than the real drawing, but you can't see them if I scan any lighter.
Here the drawing is almost done. I still have to do the details on the teeth, and more defining around her eyes to make her smile look more like the photo. If you don't get the eye crinkles right, its the smile that looks wrong. There are also a few spots that need some more color, like under her nose and around the mouth:

Please, let me assure you...the real one looks much better, at least to me! Two more to go until this series is over (and the one I am going to do over, so three.)
